Biography

Marija Petričević-Bošnjak is a professional artist and instructor.  She works in all mediums. Although her subject matter is varied, what she enjoys most is portrait commissions. She is an elected signature status, "Senior" member of the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists (CIPA), a Signature member of the Pastel Society of Canada (PSC), and a signature status "Associate" member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA).

Marija's professional art training includes art history, drawing and painting courses at the Alberta College of Art and University of Calgary; an advertising and illustrating correspondence course at the Art Instruction School, in Minneapolis, USA; classes and workshops with renowned artists.  

Her art can be found in private and public collections throughout Canada and Internationally.  Marija's art has been published in The Best of Canadian Pastels book, and magazines including The Galleries West, The International, The Pastel Artists International, The Vancouver Life, Calgary and Illustrator Magazine. She has exhibited in galleries and many juried shows, and has received numerous awards including being name finalist for Canada's "Immigrants of Distinction Awards 2000." In addition to being part of the Federation of Canadian Artists - National web site, Marija Petricevic-Bosnjak is also part of the web site for the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists (CIPA).

Marija's painting "Dancers" has been voted as the 2005 Jurors choice for Best of Show, flatwork, at the Western Art Auction at the Stampede.

Her painting "Chief Abis-tos-quos" received the Collector's Choice Flat Art at the 2006 Western Art Auction of the Calgary Stampede.

Paintings "Joy" and "Mrs. M. Frankic" were featured in Passages 2006 calendar.  Marija's painting "Gabriel" was featured in the Galleries West magazine, Spring 2005 edition.  Marija is one of the featured artists in the "Pastel Artist International Magazine " Nov/Dec. 2000 edition. Her painting "Patient Realization" was featured in the Vancouver Life" magazine.
